Going To School

All the children who live in the Victory Home have experienced numerous heartaches and setbacks in being able to attend Government schools.

Because they were born with HIV/AIDS they have become targets because of the fears and lack of understanding by the other ‘normal’ children and their parents.

So after trying several times to get the children into a school, it was realized that a different alternative must be found. Timoti brought ten additional children, from another orphanage he oversees, into the home and integrated them with the Victory Home children.

Within a short time, good friendships were formed and the children began to feel like they were part of the bigger world.

Then the Logos School was founded and Timoti hand selected qualified teachers who had a genuine love for children and a desire to see them educated for life. At present, there are 111 students attending from K–7th Class.

Now instead of catching a bus to go to school, the children simply go upstairs, as the funds were provided to place the school on the entire second floor of the Victory Home.

The children are all receiving a quality education with the attention that can be given when classroom sizes are small.

A normal school day begins with the children enjoying a time together learning a Bible truth, singing, and sharing breakfast together as one big family.

Then the bus arrives from town bringing all the other children to the Logos School.

All the children line up according to their respective classes, they sing the national anthem. One of the teachers opens the day with prayer, and then they’re off to a day of fun and learning.

Our Little Sisters in the Mercy Home are living in a much more remote area. Those who are still in primary school walk about two kilometers to their one-room school, and those in high school catch a bus into town. They begin their day much same as the children in the Victory Home. Breakfast and a time of sharing and singing – then they are off!

Since my father was there on a school day he was asked to walk to school
with the three younger girls.

It was quite a pleasant walk and a real joy to see where our sisters attend school, so rather than me tell you, how about you come along?

Pray for all the children that they would grow in their understanding of all that they study and that they would excel in the character traits of: love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, patience, and grace.
